The hotel establishments are divided, in Valencia, in several groups:

• Hotels
• Hostels
• Pensions

The hotels are those establishments that occupy a building in their totality, or they occupy it partly but they have accesses (stairs and elevators) of exclusive use for the hotel.

The hostels and pensions do not occupy complete buildings, but they are located in houses and the accesses to the establishment (stairs and elevators) are not exclusive, but shared with the inhabitants of the building.
The hostels have greater obligations than the pensions, for example:

• all the rooms must count on heating (in pensions is not necessary)
• room are bigger in hostels than in pensions
• at least half of the hostels rooms must count on complete bath

The establishments of each group (hotels, hostels and pensions) are different by their category, that is measured in stars. To greater number of stars, greater services.

• Hotels go from one to five stars
• Hostels, have one or two stars.
• Pensions only can have one star.

As an example, the hotels of 4 and 5 stars must count on international TV channels, those of less stars no. The minimum surface of the double room is of 12 square meters in the hotels of 1 stars, 14 square meters in those of two stars, and thus up to 17 square meters in the hotels of five stars.
