View of the Plaza de la Reina. You can see the cathedral of Valencia and its bell tower, known as ' the Miguelete' or ' the Micalet'.
The cathedral dates from century XIII, and it was constructed on a mosque that, as well, had been built on a Roman temple.
It does not have a dominant style. It incorporates gothic, romanesque and baroque elements.
It is the tower-bell tower of the cathedral. It has an octogonal ground plan, and it measures more than 50 meters of height.
It was constructed between centuries XIV and XV, and is of gothic style, although it is next to the "Door of the Irons", that is of baroque style.
Inside "the Miguelete" there is a spiral staircase that allows to raise until its terrace, from where can see the sea. The Miguelete was called like that because it was blessed the 29th of September of 1418, day of San Miguel.

Next to this door, all Thursdays at 12:00 o'clock, since 1000 years ago, get together the "Court of Waters", the oldest institution of justice in Europe. The Court of Waters is formed by eight farmers, chosen democratically every two years by all the irrigator men of the orchard.
Every Thursday the court solves, in a judgment with immediate sentence and without possibility of appeal, the conflicts arisen in the use of the irrigation water.
Inside the Cathedral, entering by the door of Irons (the one located next to the Miguelete), is located the Holy Chalice Chapel, who originally, in 1356, wasn't joined to the cathedral.
In this chapel, according to the tradition, is conserved the Holy Chalice that Jesus used in the last supper.
The Door of the Apostles is one of the three doors of the Valencia Cathedral.
It is of gothic style. The other doors are the Fore door or of Irons, baroque style, and the Door of the Palau, style Romanesque.

We recommend you to visit the Cathedral Museum, entering by the Door of Irons (next to the Miguelete).
There you will find paintings of great quality, with pictures of the Hernando (disciples of Leonardo Da Vinci), Vicente Macip, Vergara, and Maella.
In the Borja chapel, you will find two pictures of Goya: "Dismissed of San Francisco de Borja" and "Conversion of a dying."
In this image of the Virgin Square, you can see the Cathedral dome, built over the transept, of octogonal ground plan and with 16 windows that illuminate the Cathedral inside.
It was built in 1418, with the purpose of collecting the taxes of Corona.
At the present time, it is the seat of the Presidency of the Valencian Generalitat, the autonomic government of the Valencian community.

The church of Saint Catherine is one of Valencia oldest churches.
It's bell tower was built in century XVII. It is of baroque style and has an hexagonal ground plan.
